The National Young Riders Forum is pleased to support this year’s Ride to Work Day that takes place on Tuesday June 10th 2025.
With the numbers of cars on the road growing year on year (latest figures suggest 36 million!) equating to long queues of traffic, blocked junctions and congestion, it’s no wonder that young people are turning to motorised 2 wheels instead of 4 to access their opportunities in life.
Easy to ride, flexible enough to zip past traffic queues, kind to the planet, economical to run on a tight budget, what’s not to like?
But the best bit is the freedom having your own transport can bring.
Mates ringing for a game of footie, chance of extra money through odd jobs, meeting your new love interest, all things you can say a big YES to when you have your own set of 2 wheels waiting for you.
However, the biggest bonus is the ease of the ‘Ride to Work’ which is why NYRF is proud to support this year’s event. Many companies will provide you an ‘executive’ parking area just for two wheelers, a changing area to stash your motorcycle gear and even a welcoming cup of tea on those colder days!
Using powered 2 wheels to get into work can reduce your commute by precious extra minutes (if not hours in some cases!) that can be spent having a ‘mini’ lie-in on a cold morning.
Roadworks mending potholes are a regular feature on a journey to work these days and it is common to come across at least one or even two sets of temporary traffic lights with long queues waiting behind (with plenty of frustrated drivers tapping their steering wheel!). Riding on 2 wheels means that you can carefully move past the waiting traffic and take your place at the head of the queue, ready for the off when the lights change to green and you whizz away.
Properly maintained, quick and cheap to check and look after, your trojan machine will not let you down, trip after trip and once you have passed your full test, your friends can travel with you too.
Living rurally, a motorcycle can really open up your life as buses are few and far between and parents are usually busy or unreliable! Young people living in the countryside can really struggle to get about and this is where 2 wheels can provide that vital, sustainable mode of transport to get you out there.
Urban living lends itself to being part of the transport mix to dodge the jams, needing less space to park and often access to some bus lanes.
NYRF are calling its young riders to be proud of their 2-wheel transport choice for all the right reasons and ‘Ride to Work’ on Tuesday June 10th to be part of this important MAG day.
